Stauff level gauges are tools used as visual fluid level indicators in hydraulic system reservoirs. In a hydraulic gas or fluid tank, measuring the amount of fluid remaining may be impossible, therefore, there’s a need to use a device to indicate the level. These Stauff level gauges are designed to work with a maximum pressure of 29 PSI or 2 bar. There are four main parts of the level gauges: housing, scale plate, sealing and plugs, and sight tubes made from different materials. Stauff level gauges are available in two different types, Level gauge SNKK, level gauge SNA, and Level Gauge SNK. They are used in various applications. For example, level gauges can measure pressure effectively in mineral and petroleum-based systems. |

1. What are the Stauff Level Gauges?
Level gauges are measuring instruments for fluid or gas stored in a tank. They are used in various industries operating with fluids and used to measure the level of fluids in pressure vessels, hydraulic tanks, drums, and many more. These gauges are used to measure in scenarios where a direct measurement cannot be done, that is, the chemicals are harmful and hazardous to health or when the tank is sealed with pressure. Level gauges are of different types, sizes, and uses. There are three common types of level gauges in the system application and there are reflex level gauge, transparent level gauge, and magnetic level gauge.
Stauff level gauges are used to measure the visual level of fluid in hydraulic tanks. They can be used in different applications such as gasoline, mineral, and petroleum-based hydraulic fluids, lubricants, etc. these level gauges are designed to operate with a maximum working temperature of 90⁰C or 194⁰F. They are available in different configurations to fit the application intended.

2. What are SNA Series Stauff Level Gauges?
The SNA Series of Stauff Level Gauges is designed to operate under a maximum of 194⁰F or 90⁰C. The thermometer calibration ranges from -14⁰F (-10⁰C) to 176⁰F (80⁰C). The types of SNA 076 are designed using the M10 Bolt standards while SNA 127, SNA 254, and SNA 305 have M12 Bolts standards. The tightening torque is 70in/lb or 7.9 Nm.
The sealant type is Viton seal, however, other seals can be available upon request. The house is made from Black Epoxy Coated Metal Shroud and the Sight Tube from Polyamide (PA). For special material requests, they can be provided. They are recommended for use in lubricants, petroleum, and mineral-based hydraulic fluids. |
3. What is the design of Stauff Level Gauges?
Stauff level gauges are used in reservoirs with maximum tank pressure measuring 2 bar or 29 PSI. However, it can be designed for special sizes more than 305mm or 12 inches to a maximum size of 950mm or 37.4 inches which is suitable for use in small and medium tanks.
Also, the level gauges come with a 1mm tolerance as specified by the customers’ orders.
The design of Stauff level gauges are as follows:

4. What materials are Stauff Level Gauges made of?
The Stauff level gauge is made of different parts, thus, different materials are used. The housing material is made for a Steel St 12 material with black epoxy-coating. St 12 is a material made following the German Standard DIN1623. Equivalently, the material is DC01 of the JIS standard and SPCC of EN10130 standard.
The chemical composition summary off the material is shown below:
|
Epoxy-coating is a material used to elongate the durability of carbon steel tanks. The polymerization makes it of two compounds, resin, and hardener. Epoxy coatings are advantageous as they help protect equipment against corrosion, high temperature, and abrasion. More so, they are easy to clean and have weather resistance. The Stauff level gauges can withstand all the aforementioned problems due to the coating applied to the housing.
The sight tube and plugs are made from a Polyamide (PA) material. Polyamide is a material that is popularly referred to as nylon. It is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic with increased thermal stability and low density. It is a material often used in production and very important due to its high chemical and oil resistance level. This makes it a suitable alternative for the metal in various applications. Generally, the material has a high level of durability, sliding feature, chemical resistance, thermal stability, and strength. The Scale Plate of Stauff level gauges is made from PVC material. Polyvinyl Chloride, also called PVC is one of the common materials used in domestic and industrial production worldwide. They are used in construction applications due to their strength, high flame resistance level, and rigidity. |
5. What are the types of Stauff Level Gauges?
There are other alternative types of Stauff Level Gauges available. They are SNK Series or SNKK Series.
