A mechanical installation is bought by the metre and by the hundred fittings. What decides it is availability and material certificates — both from one source, not five.
Mechanical installation rarely fails on one wrong item — it stalls because there are five suppliers on five schedules. One late fitting delivery holds a whole riser, and a material certificate that arrives a week later holds the handover. This range is held wide enough to cover an installation package from a single quote: tube, pipe, fittings, valves, strainers and the clamps to carry them.

Tube, fittings, valves, clamps and seals from the same stock — one quote, one shipment, one set of import papers. That saves more time than a per-item price difference.
EN 10204 3.1 certificates (MTC) are available with the heat number. On inspected work, ask at quotation stage rather than after delivery.
Tube is called out by OD × wall thickness and used with compression fittings; pipe by NB × schedule and used threaded or welded. Their fittings do not interchange.
Scale, weld spatter and thread cuttings from a new installation all end up in the first pump or meter. A Y-strainer costs a fraction of either.
